Anger is what happens when individuals have overwhelming feelings of fear and frustration and have no idea how to deal with them, but to communicate them outwardly in an aggressive way. Angry people generally come from angry parents, and through modelled behaviour, have learnt...

The 7 Masks of Zorrow!

It’s often forgotten that one of the dragons that must be slain on the road to happiness is the cause of sorrow. It seems likely that few of us will clearly see what brings our spirit down, simply because it’s too close to home. It is so close, so subtle and very often so subconscious. It’s those moments when we are trying to be someone we are not, without realising it. Those moments can last from a few minutes to a lifetime! They are not... READ FULL ARTICLE >>

Nutrition Click with Alia Almoayed

Alia Almoayed Nutritionist BahrainMy 8-year old is very thin and she doesn’t like to eat much. Sometimes I end up giving her more milk to make up for her meals.
You are not alone in this. Many parents do that for fear of their child starving. But the truth is, you’re causing more harm than good by increasing her milk. Milk is like having a meal, so every time she has milk it’s filling her up and making her less likely to eat well in the next meal. Furthermore, an 8-year old does not require milk (if you really want to, you can give her almond or coconut milk in her cereal). Having too much milk can also trigger a sensitivity, with many side-effects such as weight loss or headaches. What she needs now is a good amount of vegetables, fruits, salads, fish and wholegrains. I suggest you explain that to her what you would like to do and discuss with her meal options that would be appealing to her in the future. If she contributes to the meal decisions, she will be more likely to eat them. And cut out all milk for at least two weeks.
